The Samoset Scene

Our good friend Trena (pictured in the middle) has a time share up in Rockland at Samoset. It is a great place that her family has been going to since she was 2. This year, she decided to have a "Girl's Retreat" for three of us and then give a bit of time for our family to spend relaxing too!

After church on Wednesday evening we all climbed into Jessica Krupnek's (on the right in the picture above)Honda Pilot and took the 2 hour drive north to the resort. Of course, it was very late by the time we got up there, but we could see the blinking of the Owl's Head lighthouse.

In the morning we pulled back the curtains and saw beautiful Rockland and the ocean. It was a sight to behold. The weather was perfect and the company even better.

We were able to do the 8/10's of a mile walk down the breakwater (and the 8/10 of a mile back...it's a nice walk, but you have to watch where you're stepping. That makes it taxing.) and then relax in the heated outdoor pool! For dinner we went to the Camden deli that overlooks the harbor. Jessica treated us to pedicures and we laughed our heads off while playing Oodles of Doodles, Golf, Dutch Blitz and Skip Bo. We had such fun!

Trena had to leave early Friday morning for a tennis tournament, but Jess, Janelle and I hung out at the room and played games. They left around 1:30 and Taigen showed up with Marshall and Shaylen around 2. The kids enjoyed camping out in the living room and the walk down part of the breakwater (until it started to rain). They loved discovering seashells, crab legs, seaweed and sea glass all for the first time. Taigen enjoyed drooling over the REALLY nice golf course they have!

It was a truly GLORIOUS time up at the Samoset and we are truly appreciative of Trena's willingness to share her special getaway with all of us.
