Seattle Vacation Part VII- Time at Heritage

Taigen always enjoys spending time with his "western church family". Each time we come out, Pastor Stiekes is very gracious and asks Taigen to preach. The last time we were out, Pastor Stiekes had kidney stones so it worked out great that Taigen came prepared. This time, Pastor Stiekes' father unexpectedly passed away so the timing was perfect again in order to allow Pastor Stiekes to go and be with his family.

We were able to sing in the morning service and Taigen preached. After church, we headed over to Grandma Rutledge's (can you tell this is where we all hang out?) for lunch. Karen went to JCPenney's after church and stocked the kids up with a summer wardrobe for next year. This is truly awesome of her and she delights in finding great bargains (a woman after my own heart). I'm sure that somewhere in this time space, Brett and I got in a game of Dutch Blitz, convincing Sherry that she needed to play too. I was slowly losing my grip on being the champion in this game. Maybe Brett's practicing in his spare time?

Sunday evening, church was over in Everett at Heritage Baptist's newly purchased facility. They have so many talented people in that ministry. A ladies quartet sang that was just fabulous! They were such a blessing. It's been great to watch this ministry through-out the years and we are excited to see how God is going to use it in the future. Taigen was able to preach again and we were able to see Mr. and Mrs. Jorgensen (long-time family friends). Mrs. Jorgensen had just gotten in from SC (helping her daughter, Erika, with her fast approaching wedding) and Mr. Jorgensen, who works for Boeing, had obligations to be at the grand unveiling of the new, massive 787.

After church we went out to Coldstone Creamery with John, Linny and Emilie Shearer. I've never had ice cream here before and it was delicious. The fun is in watching them mix your own combination by hand (okay...with utencils...but by hand, not machine...you get my point). We had a great time with the Shearers and enjoyed getting caught up.
