Seattle Vacation Part I

I have decided to post several blogs to let you know all about our vacation in Washington. Rather than attempting to write one enormously long (and possibly boring) blog, I think I am going to break things down by day or by activity. We'll see how well I remember everything.

Many of you know that our flight left Portland at 3:20 and went to JFK in New York. That first flight was short and over and done with in an hour. We had a two hour lay over in JFK, which was our chance to walk around, get something to eat and have many bathroom breaks before the long 5+ hour trans-continental flight to Seattle. (The kids, by the way, did fabulously on the flights. Not one problem...whew!)

We didn't get in until after 11 PST. Chris (Taigen's cousin) picked us up in the Rutledge truck. He had had a grueling day and was gracious enough to put off his sleep in order to take us home.

The kids were silent on the trip to Sherry's. Two years is a long time to forget that Chris was a huge hit from the last time we were out. They were still formulating an opinion of him on the trek from the airport. As soon as we dropped him off at his house, they started in with the jabber.

The jabber continued when we got into Sherry's house. They had to empty the entire contents of their back-packs and show Sherry what all they had gotten to play with on the airplane. She had new things for them to enjoy too (lip gloss, fingernail polish, chapstick and hair ties for Shaylen; matchbox cars for Marshall) so they immediately warmed up to her. It was all we could do to get them up and in their new special beds that Grandma had purchased for them. They didn't seem the least bit tired. This boggles my mind!

It was a late night and we (the adults, that is) all-too-eagerly went to sleep. Much awaited us for tomorrow!
