A true New Englander will call it hamburg too. You don't fry up the hamburger. You fry up the hamburg. Mom Mac always would say that and it would crack me up!
Oh yeah, I never heard it shortened to that before we moved to Maine, but now, in NE PA, they still call it that, but it's not "in print" anywhere!
