Relief from the "Summer" Heat

I know summer doesn't officially start until June 21st, but according to the weather in Maine the past two days, you would think it already had.

Growing up in Colorado, seeing 70, 80, or even 90 degree weather is really not that bad. There's always the shade, right? Colorado is dry. In Maine, however, you add to any hot weather the humidity and it can be stifling. Humidity does wonders for keeping the landscapes beautiful, lush and green but it is relentless on your hairstyle and makeup!

We had 90 degree weather on Friday and today was in the 80's. The beach is grand but you cannot go and sit in the ocean all day in order to stay cool. We have other ways of dealing with this beautiful Maine "weathah": Iced coffee, kiddie pools & air conditioning units.

Taigen installed the a/c units this morning. What a difference they make! We also pulled out the kiddie pool after naps today, inflated it, filled it, and threw the kids in their swimsuits. They had a ball! The water was COLD but they didn't seem to mind the first few dips. I think it was a nice respite for them too. Here are some "cool" shots for you to enjoy.

BTW, did you think I forgot about my iced coffee? Not in a million years. Have you noticed the name of this blog?

Hey, after working in the PA humidity today, WE (mommy & daddy) joined the kids in the kiddie pool today, too!

I'm a bit too tall to join in the pool. The feet are definitely going in this afternoon.
